“You can wait forever for the muse to sit on your shoulder, but most of the time you know what has to be done and inspiration is not going to help you. If you are writing a scene where a character has to walk from one room into another – there is no inspiration involved; it’s a technical job. For me the inspiration really takes place before I start writing and after that it’s the work.”
